In July of 1980, 25 dedicated World War II aviation enthusiasts formed a squadron of the C.A.F. in St. Louis, Missouri. One year later, the squadron was granted wing status and became the 25th C.A.F. Wing.
The
Missouri
Wing moved from Spirit of St. Louis Airport to its current facility at
St. Charles County Smartt Airport on February 1, 1984.
An additional hangar was built in 1995 to better accommodate "Show Me".
There are three World War II aircraft presently assigned to the
Missouri Wing:
North American B-25J Medium Bomber
Grumman TBM-3E Torpedo Bomber
Aeronca L-3 Observation Plane
The wing membership is over 140 members. General monthly meetings are held at 1:30 PM on the second Saturday of each month at Smartt Field. The public is always welcome.
